DGRV Federal Congress on the Energy Transition for Cooperatives
Besides the amendments to the Renewable Energy Act (EEG), European legislation will also be an area of focus for energy and housing cooperatives in 2017. Against this backdrop, practitioners from energy and other cooperatives came together with policymakers and representatives of government agencies and industry associations at the Federal Congress to discuss the political and economic framework in Germany and Europe.
Electromobility/transport, digitization/broadband, and energy concepts for apartment buildings were among the topics of the future for energy cooperatives in the second strand of the conference.
The third conference strand centered on one key question: How can housing cooperatives’ innovative energy supply models be delivered in cooperation with energy cooperatives or other companies? Dr. Mathias Hain gave a speech in this context on the subject of “Energy Supply Strategies for Cooperatives – The Significance and Possibilities of Cooperation” and concluded that the changes in underlying energy policy and a number of megatrends offered considerable potential for greater energy efficiency.
Germany’s Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy, Brigitte Zypries, spoke at the subsequent 2017 Annual Reception of the German Cooperatives.
